Staying in an unfamiliar place for a short period of time can be refreshing and enjoyable. However, when you’re in an unfamiliar environment for an extended period, you can gradually accumulate fatigue both mentally and physically.

During such times, how about visiting a public bathhouse or hot spring that you can walk to from your accommodation? Soaking in a warm bath can be a great way to refresh yourself. Mixing with the local people can also make you feel like you’re living there.

This time, we recommend five public baths and hot springs around Teradacho Station in the old town of Osaka. The retro and cozy atmosphere typical of Osaka’s old town will make you feel warm and fuzzy just by walking around.

This time, we will introduce five public baths and hot spring facilities within walking distance from “CONTEXTED Osaka,” which we operate.

1. Yamato Onsen

This public bath is run by the grandparents of the manga artist Sasa Izumi, and the walls inside the facility feature hand-drawn illustrations by Izumi. Izumi draws a manga called “Yutono” about public baths on LINE Manga, and it seems that Yamato Onsen served as the model for it. The sunlight streaming in from the skylight creates a pleasant atmosphere in the bathing area, which also includes electric baths, jet baths, shallow baths, and deep baths.

Beautiful tile paintings depicting a valley and glass walls separating the men’s and women’s baths add lovely accents. By the way, there is no sauna or cold bath here.
